hey guys, heard of your site and the "save the roots" project appealed to me. a friend met some of you guys at the streetwise drift event in charlotte, nc a few weeks ago. save the roots, as in grassroots drifting is pretty close to my heart. i'm the primary organizer of MBDrift here in Myrtle Beach, SC. We are coming up on our 5th year hosting grassroots drift events that allow for no cage no suit tandem drifting. We drive once a month at least, and for 2011 will be running our 3rd year of a points series. Costs are $75.00 to compete to win ca$h, and $60.00 for just a practice day.. we offer so much seat time it is ridiculous. Tire changer on site $5.00 each. as far as me.. from what i can tell from reading around here, i'm most likely the old fart in the room at 37. i've been drifting for over 10 years, was in attendance at the very first FD in 2004 and was sliding well before that. I was a Pro-Am judge at FD Atlanta in 2010 as well. I've had a lot of cars over the years, but the most popular was this GS300 which i slid for 7 years alone. got the seven year itch, and decided to build this instead but then this happened when i broke an axle and double ended the wall so now i have this.. it will be getting this.. donated by my Lexus come check us out at MBDrift.com or myrtlebeachspeedway.com Jeff

Welcome to STR man and looks like you've been drifting a while and slid some LEGIT. cars thanks man. hoping to spread the word about what we have going in MB.. like nothing else that i'm aware of with the chance to run tandems without a suit or cage. drivers are progressing so fast in this area b/c of that chance.

Welcome to the forums!
Thanks for supporting the site! Yep "saving the roots" is truly what we're all about just spreading the word about the fun that is had at grassroots events. Just people doing what they love without too strict rules or competitions.
That's great about no cage tandems. I think the events we've had here in La required cages for a tandem and since no one had cages, no on tandemed.
But anyways Welcome and keep us posted on how everything goes! Let us know when there's an event going down that week and we'll announce it on the facebook fan page aswell as the main blog.

soooooo.. i'm torn here. i have some money in the bank, which is rare. i need a bunch of things for this car to be finished, although the 4cyl is working well for now. i should mention that i'm a wheeel whore.... should i: 1. spend the money on a transmission for my 2jz, that i need a ton more parts for to get done and in the car? 2. spend the money on an extended steeering angle kit (59*) including a lot of extra parts and things that I can use right now and will definitely improve the car..regardless of the motor choice? 3. spend the money on a sweeet set of cheap VIP Leon Hardiritt rims that will poke and set the z3 off big time from the rest of the bmw snobbery. (18x9 +24 18x10 +34.. with appropriate spacerage and stretch)

I'd prolly do option 2 b/c you can get all the smaller stuff like steering out of the way and it'l improve the car while your waiting on rims or 2j parts.

i was kinda leaning on option 2 also, but the guy cant ship for 2 weeks..wnats paid now..etc. dont like my $$$ just hanging out tho. i mean i trust the guy buuuuuutt... havent seen close up pics of the Leons yet either, and havent talked my best deal. if i could sell all these bmw and other parts i have laying around here i could do it all.. engines, 5 speed tranny swaps.. doors, hoods, dashes..lol..i could build several near complete cars from what is stored in my neighbors garage b/c i dont have anymore room. no bobdy is buying
